Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) Trade Test 

Within the ARPL Trade Test, we cater for two trades:

Diesel Mechanic

Motor Mechanic

Entry requirements → Minimum 36 months practical motor industry experience
  3-day assessment to assess further training requirements 
  Prove theoretical & practical competence per module

Gap Closure Course → As per assessment results per applicant
  Duration & gap training dependent on assessment results

 

Final assessment & next steps → Prove trade test readiness
  Application made to the SETA for serial number 
  Scheduled for the trade test

 

The Trade Test → Performed on the subjects relevant to the trade
  4 tasks are chosen at random by the examiner
  Must prove competence in all 4 tasks to pass 
  Tasks comprise of a practical exercise & theoretical questioning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Trade Test 

The RPL Trade Tests caters to four trades:

Automotive Electrician

Automotive Engine Fitter

Diesel Fitter

Diesel Fuel Injection Technician

Entry requirements → Minimum 18 months practical motor industry experience

The Trade Test →   Performed on the subjects relevant to the trade
  4 tasks are chosen at random by the examiner
  Must prove competence in all 4 tasks to pass 
  Must prove competence in all 4 tasks to pass 
  Tasks comprise of a practical exercise & theoretical questioning
