RTMC owes South Africans official clarity on fees issue
Proposed amended fees for services offered by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) announced by Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula are beyond outrageous and show deep contempt for the citizens of South Africa. The Automobile Association (AA) says the proposed fees – seen in the context of the poor to non-existent service delivery rendered by the RTMC currently – seek to extract as much revenue from already cash-strapped citizens without providing any associated benefit to them.

The Automobile Association (AA), in collaboration with the FIA Region I, has distributed another 10 000 high visibility sashes to commuters at various taxi ranks in Gauteng as part of its #ISeeYou campaign. The campaign, launched in 2017, aims to make pedestrians more visible to motorists and is part of the AA’s ongoing road safety campaigns.
Fuel hits record highs in SA – breaches R18/l
The price of all fuel will, from midnight tonight (3 August), hit record highs across the country, outstripping by some margin the priciest fuel has ever been in South Africa. According to the Automobile Association (AA) fuel first hit record highs in April when 95 ULP in Gauteng was priced at R17.32 a litre, and R16.61 at the coast. Record highs were again recorded in July with the price pegged at R17.39 inland, and R16.67 at the cost.

Rand, oil to push fuel higher
All fuel types will be more expensive in August when the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) adjusted fuel prices for August. This is according to the Automobile Association (AA) which was commenting on unaudited month-end fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund (CEF). The fuel price is adjusted on the first Wednesday of every month.
