Job Summary
The AA Training Centre (AATC) delivers accredited technical occupational qualifications to the motor and related industries, supporting OEMs, dealerships, transport companies and individuals entering the technical trades.
We are seeking a Technical Trainer who will play a key role in positioning the college as “THE National Training Centre” by delivering high‑quality technical training and assessments to both internal and external delegates. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise within the motor industry, exceptional training ability and a passion for developing future talent.
Job Description
- Conduct technical training classes for internal and external learners, including Learnership Year 1, 2 and 3 assessments, preparation sessions and training activities.
- Facilitate training for Road Patrols and other technical support staff.
- Conduct assessments and compile learner progress reports.
- Develop organisation‑specific technical training material and new course content.
- Research emerging technologies and trends in the motor industry.
- Ensure all administrative duties are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain a professional image at all times.
- Maintain and care for training equipment and tooling.
- Mentor, coach and support learners throughout their training journey.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the National Training Manager or Head of Occupational Training.
Education
- Qualified Mechanical or Auto‑Electrical trade (Automotive Electrician preferred Diesel Mechanic/Automotive Motor Mechanic ideal).
- Assessor’s Certificate – Essential.
- Facilitation Certificate – Advantageous.
- Training‑related qualification – Highly advantageous
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified tradesman (Automotive Electrician, Diesel Mechanic or Motor Mechanic).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical training, coaching, assessing and facilitation within the motor industry.
- Experience in developing technical training material is advantageous.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to qualify in all three trades (Automotive Electrician, Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mechanic) within the first year of employment.
- Valid driver’s licence.
