Job Summary

The AA Training Centre (AATC) provides technical occupational qualifications to the motor and related industries, including dealers, OEMs, transport companies, and learners seeking a pathway into the automotive trades.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Technical Trainer to support the delivery of high‑quality training and assessment. This role plays a key part in ensuring that the AA Training Centre is recognised as “THE National Training Centre” by delivering professional training, supporting learner development and keeping our technical teams informed on the latest industry knowledge and standards.

Job Description

  • Conduct technical training classes for Learnership Year 1, 2 and 3 including assessment preparation and revision sessions.
  • Deliver training to technical support staff.
  • Conduct assessments under the supervision of a Technical Trainer.
  • Assist in developing training material and new course content.
  • Compile learner progress reports.
  • Research and stay updated on new technology and trends in the motor industry.
  • Complete all administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Care for and maintain training equipment and tools.
  • Mentor, coach and support learners.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Occupational Training or National Training Manager.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Motor‑related diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Planning and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High sense of urgency, strong time management and adaptability.
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new skills quickly.

Education

  • Qualified Mechanical or Auto Electrical Trade (Automotive Electrician preferred, Diesel Mechanic or Automotive Motor Mechanic ideal).
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a qualified tradesman in one of the relevant automotive trades.
  • Basic experience with facilitation, coaching or training is advantageous.
  • Experience in developing technical training material is advantageous.

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Fully literate in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to qualify in all three trades (Automotive Electrician, Diesel Mechanic and Motor Mechanic) within the first year of employment.
