The Automobile Association (AA) launched an innovative service with independent vehicle dealerships and AA Approved workshops across the country to provide consumers with credible information on pre-owned vehicles they intend purchasing.  Through the service, dealerships can offer an AA 125-point inspection of vehicles and thereby provide a comprehensive report on the vehicle to prospective buyers.

Consumers across South Africa will be able to access this service at all dealerships that display the AA Certified Pre-Owned branding.

The Motorland Group in East London is the newest outlet offering the service. A business built on trust, communication, mutual respect and strong Christian values, the Motorland Group is a family-owned establishment that has been in operation for 49 years. Up front, you will be assisted by a group of experienced and trained sales executives that are backed up by well-equipped workshops and fully trained technicians.

“In developing this product and service, the AA along with our brand partner AA Warranties, recognised that we can offer support to independent dealerships while providing the motoring public a valuable and credible service that enhances the selling and purchasing experience,” says Willem Groenewald, AA CEO.

Critically, the inspection process does not offer a “pass” or “fail” assessment of a vehicle. Instead, it provides a report which states the “facts” of the vehicle at the time of assessment.

“The AA has been trusted and respected for generations in SA, and we did not hesitate when given the opportunity to be associated with such a prestigious brand.  We are proud and excited to be able to offer our clients peace of mind when purchasing a vehicle from us.  Having an additional 125-point check that is endorsed and recognised by a trusted brand such as the AA only adds further to the value of our excellent pre-owned vehicles,” says Dealership Principal Steve Chandler.

The AA is engaging with independent dealerships across the country regarding the AA Certified Pre-Owned accreditation. The intention is to have a minimum of 150 dealerships in South Africa offering the service in the next two years.

Decrease in fatalities welcome – but more needs to be done

The small decrease in the number of fatalities on South African roads between the December 2022 and January 2023 festive period and the 2023/2024 period is commendable and signals a slight improvement in road safety efforts by authorities. However, the Automobile Association (AA) remains concerned that the deaths of 1427 road users during the festive period is still too high, and that more needs to be done to effectively deal with road safety in South Africa. Transport Minister Sindisiwe...

2024 to start on positive fuel note for consumers

Despite the volatile Rand and concerns around shipping routes in the Red Sea, local fuel prices are still expected to decrease when they are adjusted by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy next Wednesday. Commenting on unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), the Automobile Association (AA) says the numbers are still pointing to reductions to fuel prices across the board.   According to the CEF’s figures, ULP95 petrol is expected to be lower by around 54cents a litre while...

Good fuel news for motorists to start 2024

South African motorists can expect significant fuel price reductions to kick-off 2024 says the Automobile Association (AA). Commenting on unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), the AA says both grades of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin prices are showing substantial decreases that will ease the financial pressure on consumers in January. “According to the data, ULP93 will decrease by around 68 cents/litre, and ULP95 will decrease by 82c/l. Diesel is set to decrease...
